Light’s Out Lidge or Lidge Light’s Out?

My first post, but definately not my last one. I have no qualms about Brad Lidge being closer. That is what he is getting paid to do. I’m like Charlie Manuel: he’s my closer, he’s getting paid to close, it’s his job and I’m sticking with him.

But there is a point to letting him close. If he can close out a few more 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 games, he can build-up confidence in himself. I have the upmost faith in him.

But that upmost faith only goes so far. I’ll spot Lidge four more blown saves to make it ten (10) blown saves, before Charlie lets Ryan “Mad Dog” Madson do the honors of closing. I mean, “Mad Dog” has the stuff to be a dominate, All-Star Closer. That 98-mph fastball, coupled with that knee-breaking change-up and bat-shattering cutter should make him a good closer somewhere down the line if Brad starts to colapse.

Kyle Kendrick (and the some of the minors) Report:

Kyle in his attempt to learn and master a third and fourth pitch down at triple-A affiliate, Lehigh Valley and return to the MLB club is 4-4 with an ERA of 4.03 in 12 starts with 39 K’s, 21 BB’s, 70 H in 67.0 innings pitched.

Carlos Carrasco is having arough go at it. Where are you people who wanted him to have the fifth starters spot now?! Huh?! Arrogant punks! Anyway… Carlos is 1-6 with an ERA of 5.16 in 11 starts with 63 K’s, 17 BB’s, 66 H in 61.1 innings pitched.

Michael Taylor one the best position prospects for the Phillies is batting a little under .350 at .348. He has belted 10 home runs along with driving in 41 and knocking 63 hits. All in 51 games at double-A Reading.

Quintin Berry, another one of the top prospects for the Phils is batting .278 at Reading. Batting .278 with 54 Hits and 12 RBI and 16 SB (stolen bases).

All-Star Voting Pitch:

Raul Ibanez, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Shane Victorino, Jayson Werth, Jimmy Rollins, Carlos Ruiz, Pedro Feliz and Matt Stairs need your help. Vote for your Phillies in the 2009 All-Star Game Fan Voting. As well as write in Matt Stairs’ name for the All-Star Home Run Derby

The future looks very high for those minor leaguers and for myself. I hope you enjoyed reading my first post. Until next time, keep on writing Phillies Phans.
